About the Site
What is the Dressage Maven Blog about?
Dressage Maven is a site for me to share my passion for horses and dressage with the world. It’s also a place for readers to come together and talk about their related thoughts and ideas. Hopefully we can all learn from each other in a safe forum that isn’t focused on anything negative like how much anyone paid for their horse, or whose trainer is better than every other trainer.
Why did you call it Dressage Maven?
Well the site focuses mostly on dressage. The maven part? Well, one great definition of Maven I found (from Princeton.edu) is:
Someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field
Now, when I chose Maven that isn’t the definition I was thinking of - While I may aspire to be dazzlingly skilled in Dressage, alas I have yet to actually dazzle anyone with my riding.
The definition I was thinking of when I named this site is the Webster Dictionary one:
One who is experienced or knowledgeable
(We won’t talk about definition 4 for Maven in Webster’s…”see also 4. Freak”)
Are you trying to sell anything?
Nope. I have some ads on the site to help support it’s IT costs, but that’s it. Just want to build a community and share my thoughts.
Are you a professional trainer?
I teach and train but only part time. For a few years I did teach and train full time but then I got a full time job in technology (which made affording my horses much easier!). On and off I’ve been teaching and training for almost 20 years give or take. I teach through second level dressage and ride through fourth level. Over the years I’ve tended to specialize in “difficult” horses using a combination of classical dressage training with natural horsemanship to help people and their horses understand each other better and be happier together.
Are you affiliated with any website or business?
Other than my other site Equestrian Entries which I own and run, nope.
How often do you post new articles?
I try to post 3-5 times a week.
Can I contact you off the site?
Sure, contact me at maven@eqentries.com
